Into the Fold

Boutonnieres have moved beyond traditional flowers to tell the narrative of the wedding.

When Elise Ruland, owner of The Sourceress, a vintage furniture and home décor shop, and Ben Chasen got married, they knew they wanted a nod to Ruland’s aesthetic. “Vintage brooches have been a long-time obsession for me,” says Ruland, who wanted to avoid a brooch bouquet. Instead, she added them to lapels, collars, and purses. There were also bronze and silver animal pocket squares rather than traditional boutonnieres for maximum impact.
