How You Met Lindsey and Hailey’s love story started like all the other great classic love stories . . . on Tinder. Lindsey was on a travel nurse assignment and was only in town for a week, Hailey had just gotten out of a bad relationship, neither of them were looking for anything serious. The timing had to line up so perfectly for them to have even found each other that it could be nothing else but fate. From the moment the first message was sent they both knew this could be something special. Lindsey drove two hours to meet her for the first time. They shared their first kiss in the middle of the street under the stars on that same night. Lindsey eventually had to leave to go back on assignment but they were constantly in touch, even sleeping on FaceTime just so they could be with the other as much as possible. Lindsey began flying back to see Hailey as much as possible until they finally moved in together. Obviously that turned out pretty well for the both of them.

The Engagement Throughout their relationship, Hailey had made small jokes here and there that the only way Lindsey would be allowed to propose to her was on stage at the concert of her favorite singer; obviously she thought this would never be possible. Lindsey had been following him on Instagram for a while and one day he finally posted a tour schedule. Lindsey knew it was a long shot but she took a chance and messaged him on Instagram telling him about the plan and asking if he could help make it actually happen. She was so surprised when he resonded and said yes! Lindsey wasted no time buying the concert tickets, the plane tickets, booking the hotel room, a photographer posing as event staff to capture the night without giving anything away, and of course getting a ring custom made for Hailey. They had a blast at the concert, singing to every song, when towards the end of the show the singer called both of them up onto the stage. Hailey had no idea what was happening until Lindsey got down on one knee. It was perfect and when the whole audience started cheering it felt like a scene from a movie.

Wedding Design Inspiration Lindsey and Hailey are both drawn to nature and a bit of a darker aesthetic so they wanted a darker enchanted garden vibe to the day but still elegant. They chose black, shades of green and ivory for their colors. They used leafy greenery in most of their décor combined with sweeping fabrics and touches of elegance it created a whimsical but sophistaced style to the event. What made everything more special was that all of the décor and all of the florals were handmade by Lindsey.

What Was Unique and Special About Your Wedding Day There are a few things that made Their day very special. The first was how much care and how many personal details we put into the day. Lindsey made every decoration herself. From the arch and aisle to décor, to the center pieces, to every flower arrangement all the way down to Hailey’s boutineer.

There was also a huge focus on family during the day. Lindsey grew up very close to her cousins and it is a bond that means a lot to her so she wanted them involved as much as possible. Both of Lindsey’s bridesmaids were her cousins, and another one and his wife were their flower couple (instead of a flower girl). Hailey’s father is not in her life so she had a special mother daughter dance during the reception. But during Lindsey’s father daughter dance, about halfway through they found Hailey and Lindsey stepped back so that Hailey could have a father daughter dance too. Instead of doing a bouquet toss Lindsey did a bouquet dedication to her mom and to Hailey’s mom to recognize how important they are and how the wedding would not have been possible without their love and support.

Favorite Details
-They cut their wedding cake with the Marine sword that belonged to Lindsey’s father. It is the same sword that Lindsey’s parents cut their cake with on their wedding day.

-Rather than having wedding favors they hired caricature artists! Everyone had so much fun seeing themselves turned into a cartoon and they could leave with something special and personal for them rather than just another generic favor.

-They offered a shuttle service for their guests from the hotel to the venue but instead of a bus they had a vintage trolley car. It started the evening with a touch of nostalgia and whimsy for the guests which helped set the tone of the evening before they even arrived to the event.

Most Unexpected Event On Your Wedding Day Lindsey and Hailey knew that they wanted to end their night with a bang instead of the typical slow song. They also wanted it to be something memorable and different to reflect their personalities and their relationship. They figured what better song for the last dance of two women getting married than “It’s Raining Men.” They even got ponchos to hand out to the guests before the song started. That was the extent of what they had planned but shortly into the song Lindsey’s cousins came out with giant bubble guns that no one knew about. It was such a fun surprise and ended the wedding on a truly unforgettable note. It is something that their friends and family are still brining up months later.

Piece of Advice Do not be afraid to go against what is considered “normal.” It is your day and should be how you want it! If there is a tradition you do not like, then don’t do it. If you want to add somethings that most weddings don’t, then add it! Make your own traditions, do not be afraid to have the day how you want no matter what othe people think, it is not for them. We are not what some people would consider a “normal” couple and we embraced it. We changed things up, left things out and added things in to make the day as meaningful as possible for us.
