Local Love

Mari-Ashli & Andraé

A “Midsummer Night’s Dream . . . In a Vineyard” themed celebration at the Winslow.

This originally ran in the 2026 Local Love supplement in the June issue of Baltimore magazine.

Wedding Date June 7, 2025

Sometimes love takes time. After meeting on the app The League, Mari-Ashli Foy and Andraé Wiggins went on two dates . . . six months apart. That second date really clicked and just when they finally started getting into the rhythm of dating for real—COVID hit.

Still, they managed to make it work—if anything, it brought them closer. “Eventually, once the pandemic restrictions were lifted, we were able to fully enjoy each other and together we experienced new jobs, travels, and several friends’ weddings—12 prior to our own,” says Mari-Ashli, an emergency veterinarian. So, when it came time to plan their own wedding, they were pretty much experts.

“We both tend to lean more toward a brighter color palette in our day-to-day life,” says Mari-Ashli. She kept coming back to a summer jewel tone theme and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream . . . In a Vineyard” as the design concept. (Andraé, an AI product manager, had proposed at a winery.) They relied on Pinterest mood boards—“our wedding planner said Andraé’s board was the most well-thought-out inspiration she had seen from a groom,” Mari-Ashli laughs—and their vision came to life for their 175 guests.

“With both of us coming from smaller immediate families, our extended family was really important to us,” says Mari-Ashli. “Having Andraé’s fraternity brothers and my sorority sisters present and singing our respective songs was another key aspect.” Other favorite details included fresh fruit on the table (not wanting anything to go to waste, Andraé’s mother insisted the couple bag up the fruit to take home), an escort wall which utilized wine stoppers for the seating arrangements, custom drink coasters that incorporated their initials, and the phrase, “Calling all party aniMAls to the floor”—a nod to Mari-Ashli’s job—and a very special first dance.

“We really wanted it to be memorable,” says Mari-Ashli. Four months before their wedding they started taking secret dance classes at a Fred Astaire studio. On their wedding day they surprised everyone with mash-up of a rumba/tango dance to Al Green’s “I’m so in Love with You” and John Legend’s “Made to Love.” Says Mari-Ashli, “The guests loved it.”
