Wedding Date October 18, 2024
“We met in Baltimore 10 years ago, and the American Visionary Art Museum has always held a significant spot in our hearts. It was our first date as a couple, and we decided it would make the perfect venue for our wedding. Ben, who’s an illustrator, was drawn to the artistic aspects of the venue, and I, a librarian, enjoyed the sentimentality and memories we share of the space. Being able to share this place with our close friends and family was very special and we wanted our big day to be filled with meaning for both of us. We integrated elements of both of our careers throughout our wedding—I quoted J.R.R. Tolkien in my vows, we walked out to the theme of our favorite cartoon Over the Garden Wall, and Ben designed the artwork for the candles and jars of honey we gifted our guests.”

What Was Unique and Special About Your Wedding Day We were able to rent the whole American Visionary Art Museum for the night, which included the exhibits for guests to explore during the cocktail hour. This gave everyone a memory to look back on.
Favorite Details We opted not to do many decorations because the museum spoke for itself with its artwork and Wildflower Garden. The Meditation Chapel by Ben Wilson provided the perfect backdrop for our ceremony.
Most Unexpected Event On Your Wedding Day There wasn’t one specific event, but just how smoothly everything came together because of the hard work of our DJ, professional staff, families, and friends.
Piece of Advice: You don’t have to put a lot of money into everything. Be sure to prioritize what is most important to you, whether that be venue, photographer, or caterer. Save money by doing a lot of things yourself.
