How You Met We met in 2013 through a random connection while I was living in New Orleans finishing up grad school and Brian was in Baltimore. We kept in touch as friends long-distance until I returned home to Baltimore for a visit one spring, and we hit it off. Brian then came to NOLA a few times until we decided we were “official.” After nearly a year of long-distance love, I moved back home to Baltimore in the fall of 2014 to be closer to Brian and my family.

The Engagement Brian popped the question in April 2017 along the banks of the Mississippi River in New Orleans, a very special place in my heart. We had just finished dinner at my favorite restaurant, Peche, and then walked to the Riverwalk to take in the view. I think we both hardly remember a thing at that point, but I know he got down on one knee and I know I said, “Yes!” After wiped our tears and called our parents, we met a few of my friends at the Hot Tin Roof bar for celebratory champagne. The center diamond in my engagement ring was my Nana’s from her engagement ring. She had passed away just a few years prior and was a big part of my life.

Wedding Design Inspiration Classic with a pop of color.

What Was Unique and Special About Your Wedding Day My older brother and close family friend played the guitar and sang “Crazy Love” by Van Morrison as I processed down the aisle with my dad. This had been a vision of mine from a very young age.

Favorite Details Flowers at the ceremony site and the bouquets. Plus, my dress had a removable train which made it feel like I had two dresses—one for the ceremony and one for the reception.

Most Unexpected Event On Your Wedding Day It had POURED just moments before the outdoor ceremony was going to start. Fortunately, the rain came through fast and left us with an abundance of sunshine for our “I do’s.”

Piece of Advice Don’t worry, be happy! Take a moment to enjoy your day and don’t focus on all the small, minute details. All your guests will remember is how happy and in love you look (and good food and lots of booze doesn’t hurt either).
