The Engagement Jess proposed first in the Duoro Valley region of Portugal, Alex proposed a few months later in Virginia Beach (Jess’ hometown). We both wear custom rings by Alexandria & Co. in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. We had the best experience working with Meaghan.

What Was Unique and Special About Your Wedding Day We went on one of our first dates to the Peabody Library, and had actually talked about how magical it would be to get married at this stunning library. It was so special to actually get married there four years later and to see our guests’ reactions walking into the venue for the first time.
Favorite Details Alex is an amateur mushroom forager, so the 15 watercolor mushroom table cards were handpainted by our close friend, Katherine, and were such a fun and personal detail for us. Jess has the two most important men in her life, her stepdad and her uncle, walk her down the aisle—a particularly touching moment.
Most Unexpected Event On Your Wedding Day We surprised our guests with a three song performance by local drag queen Jasmine Blue—it was a huge hit. It was such a hard secret for us to keep leading up to the wedding, but the surprise and sheer joy we witnessed from our friends and family were well worth it.
Piece of Advice Marry your best friend, bring your pets for pictures, wear lip stain, and hire the most fun and talented vendor team.
