How You Met We passed by each other unknowingly for years during our time at Wake Forest until we were introduced through mutual friends at Boston Children’s Hospital. It was a love everyone saw coming—including our boss at the time.

The Engagement After countless concerts, brunch dates, seafood dinners, and British Bake-Off episodes over five years (and three states), we were engaged in the very city we met atop the Longfellow Bridge in Boston. Kris planned a day trip back to the Bean with a family brunch where he enlisted the help of his cousins to photograph the surprise proposal. To top it off, he proposed with a special family heirloom—a diamond that belonged to his great grandmother.

What Was Unique and Special About Your Wedding Day The warming of the rings. We incorporated an Irish tradition during which we passed around our wedding bands to each of our guests. It was unbelievably special to witness everyone take the time to hold and “warm” our rings and offer a short, silent prayer or well-wishes for our new life together.

Favorite Details Our handwritten vows, warming of the rings, our amazing florals designed by Ally’s cousin, using our favorite bands as table names, incorporating Irish/Italian/Swedish treats, Punk & Boone drink cart, our stellar band Capital Effect, and our nonstop dance floor.

Most Unexpected Event On Your Wedding Day Kris was convinced he would not cry at the altar. By the time we exchanged our vows, he was a puddle. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Piece of Advice Make the wedding (and details!) true to you both as a couple. Not only does it enrich your special day, but it also gives your guests a more intimate understanding of what ties you both together. We also cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have a photographer and planner you get along with! We had an amazing vendor team who made the planning process feel seamless. When our wedding day arrived, there was nothing else to do except enjoy it and have fun.
