How You Met We met on a dating app, but shortly after meeting discovered that Miranda’s best college friend and Curt’s best college friend were friends with one another. They would both go on to be in our wedding party. Curt likes to joke that we were going to meet eventually, technology just expedited the process.

The Engagement Originally Curt was going to propose on Leap Day since it’s such a unique day, but once Curt got the ring he couldn’t keep the surprise under wraps and he ended up proposing on February 27th, 2020. During an after-work walk through Patterson Park with our dog Piper, Curt dropped on one knee near the Pagoda and proposed. It was a very chilly February evening, which ended up being nice because the park was very empty, and we were able to share the moment privately with one another (and our beloved dog).

Wedding Design Inspiration Taking our favorite things about Baltimore and integrating them into the uniqueness already present at the BMI, including staples like Berger cookie favors and Natty Boh at the bar.

What Was Unique and Special About Your Wedding Day We loved having a truly Baltimore wedding, being able to celebrate the city and each other.

Favorite Details Our band took the time to learn all of our specially requested songs including the processionals, parent dances, and first dance. It felt special to have them performed live instead of a recording being played.

Most Unexpected Event On Your Wedding Day We knew the water taxi was going to transport the wedding party to the venue privately, but rather going directly there, we had an hour long scenic cruise past Fort McHenry, it was nice in the middle of the chaos of the day to have that more intimate time with our wedding party and immediate families.

Piece of Advice Roll with the punches. Something is inevitably going to come up, but sometimes pivoting can be for the best! About a month before our wedding, we learned of an event that was going to shut down most roads to our venue. We ended up needing to provide our guests transportation from the hotel block to the venue via Water Taxi as an alternative, but so many of our guests said it was a highlight of the evening. Turn lemons into lemonade!
