Trying Knot to Go Crazy: What to Wear, What to Wear!

I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t too excited about the whole wedding dress shopping situation. I’ve
been a bigger girl my whole life and have tried to stay away from wearing white at all costs. I’ve
never been a fan of a colored wedding dress either I’m trying to keep a few things traditional
here. So . . . a white dress it is!

I started my dress search at a few local boutiques, but it wasn’t until I went to Garnish Boutique
that I finally felt excited about picking out the dress. To start, the boutique is just so pretty it’s
the perfect setting to look for a wedding dress. I hadn’t had the opportunity to meet Mia, the
owner of Garnish, with any of my clients yet, so I was very excited to meet her. What a fun and
wonderful woman to help me try on dresses! Even at 9 months pregnant back in August of 2013, Mia was fantastic to work with. She made me feel so comfortable and told me to own my curves and promised we’d find the perfect dress. All of a sudden I was like a kid in a candy store and I fell in love with so many dresses. It was tough to narrow it down but I’m obsessed with my final choice it’s very me and fits the wedding esthetic perfectly. And it has pockets…. SO excited about that!

Oddly enough, I felt a little differently about the bridesmaids dresses, THIS I was excited for!
There are so many fun options and bridesmaid dresses are beautiful, fun and cute these days.
With 12 bridesmaids, I knew it would be a bit tough to find a dress that everyone would like. I
reached out to one of my favorite wedding blogs, Dress for the Wedding, for some helpful tips.
She put together some amazing ideas and inspiration for me and was SO fun to work with! I’ve
adored the Lula Kate line for a while and knew her dresses would be perfect.

So I took the inspiration board and those ideas to Bella Bridesmaid in Baltimore in search for Lula Kate! Whitney, the owner of Bella Bridesmaid, is a life saver as I was no easy client! I knew I didn’t want everyone in the same dress but wanted one cohesive look for all of the ladies. Whitney and I worked together to come up with a plan that would look the best. One of the best parts of Bella Bridesmaid is that they are located all over the place! My bridesmaids were able to try on the dresses in Baltimore, DC, Cleveland, Chicago, Indianapolis and New York City which made the ordering pretty painless from 6 different states. Both of our moms even ended up getting Lula Kate dresses as well!

The guys were a bit easier as always in this wedding planning, right? We went to Tuxedo
House in Timonium and in less than 20 minutes we found a great suit for Matt, our dads and all
of the groomsmen. The owner there was SO helpful and made the process a breeze for us!

So, most of us have outfits . . . check! We still need outfits for our bridal party kids but
with all of the cute spring and summer lines coming out right now, not worried about that at all! – Katey Clark
