How You Met Senior year of high school. I went to Garrison Forest School and Hugh transferred to Boys Latin his junior year from Georegtown Prep. We ended up having a lot of mutual friends but didn’t officially meet until the end of senior year. We had so much fun together those last few months of high school that we ultimately decided to continue to see how things went throughout college. I went to Miami University and he went to University of Michigan, so not too far away and continued to see each other as much as we could & the rest is history.
The Engagement After our relationship grew through college, we moved to Washington, D.C. to start our careers. Five years in the city together led to a proposal at Amy’s brother’s brewery Diamondback in Locust Point. Hugh tricked me into thinking we were getting dinner in Baltimore with our families and stopping at the brewery beforehand. As we were walking to Diamondback, Hugh proposed and I was surprised by all our family inside. Hugh wasn’t finished yet! He said we only had a little time there and then had to head to dinner. Once we got to our dinner location all our close friends and family from near and far were there to celebrate and the fun continued all night long. It was a perfect start to the beginning of this next chapter.

Wedding Design Inspiration My vison was blending timeless elegance with modern touches and a mix of Serena Lily vibes. I wanted our guests to enjoy the character and beauty Baltimore Country Club offers while also incorporating my love for a coastal chic design. I loveeee hydrangeas and knew I wanted to incorporate them in every way possible.
What Was Unique and Special About Your Wedding Day Having my 91‑year‑old grandfather at my wedding was incredibly meaningful. Out of his ten grandchildren, I was the first to marry, and it meant so much to me—and to our entire family—that he was there to share in such a special moment. Also, I had always dreamed of a lattice seating chart display. After searching for one to rent without success, my parents stepped in with their creativity and made that dream a reality. They poured so much love and effort into crafting the perfect lattice signage, and it meant the world to me—I absolutely adored it and it paired perfectly with Stacey’s floral display she designed to go with it. As if that weren’t enough, my mom repurposed the linens from my bridal shower into tablecloths for our cocktail hour, adding another layer of personal charm. Those thoughtful touches from my parents made the day unforgettable, and I’ll cherish them forever.

Favorite Details Hugh and I both loved the signature JCarson Events round bar in the center of BCC and the cocktail hour on the back patio with the sun setting behind us. As I mentioned earlier, my parents poured their love into so many thoughtful details—like the lattice display and the linens—which made the day feel uniquely ours. Knowing they invested that care and creativity to bring our vision to life was incredibly special, and it’s something we’ll treasure forever.
Most Unexpected Event On Your Wedding Day We both agreed there was nothing more euphoric than sitting at the head table and looking out to see everyone we love gathered together in one room, celebrating with us. Moments like that are so rare—when all of your closest friends and family surround you just to celebrate you—and it was truly unforgettable. It felt so special, and we never wanted it to end.

Piece of Advice Don’t obsess over the weather app—just kidding! I worried endlessly about a hurricane, but in the end it was the most perfect day. And truthfully, once the celebration begins, the weather is the last thing on your mind. Everything unfolds exactly as it’s meant to. My best advice: enjoy the process and savor every moment. Don’t rush through the planning, because those wedding planning calls and creative details become memories you’ll treasure just as much as the wedding itself. Sharing the day with your favorite person, surrounded by your most cherished family and friends, is an indescribable joy. As I mentioned before, the euphoric feeling of being in that room is pure magic—soak it all in. It’s fun, it’s unique, and it’s unforgettable.

BEAUTY The Brushing Bride BRIDESMAIDS I had all my bridesmaids pick their own light blue dress (solid or patterned) to match my blue and white theme. I wanted each bridesmaid to feel like themselves and wear something they loved and felt comfortable in.
