How You Met We connected online via Facebook through our mutual interests in horror movies, collectibles, and other things. We met at a comic convention after messaging and phone calls. After continuing to chat, life changing events brought Andrea to Maryland. The couple have never been happier.
The Engagement In 2023, John and Andrea took their first cruise together. John worked with a friend at Royal Caribbean for months in advance to set up the perfect proposal. When the cruise came to a port in the Bahamas, John had a photographer ready to capture the moment once they got to the island. As the photographer started taking photographs, John pulled out a few photos/screenshots, where he had asked Andrea’s children for their blessing. Andrea had no idea.
Wedding Design Inspiration John and Andrea are avid fans of all things Halloween, but especially horror movies. After choosing the perfect Halloween date (Friday the 13th), Andrea and John began working on fall/Halloween themed decor and ideas for the wedding.
What Was Unique and Special About Your Wedding Day Several Halloween/Horror Movie aspects were included in the wedding: Four friends dressed up as Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, Pennywise, and Ghostface and interacted with guests prior to the ceremony. They also took professional photos with the bride and groom and even were guests of honor at the photobooth.
Party favors included cookies in the shape and design of Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, Pennywise, and Ghostface made by Andrea’s friend April Brody, and special Halloween coasters.
The wedding cake had a Halloween motif with seemingly blood (icing) dripping down the sides. A Nightmare Before Christmas wedding topper and little horror figurines adorned the cake.
The guestbook was an elaborate project by John and a few of his friends. One of John’s friend’s photo shopped Andrea, John, and most of the wedding party into their favorite horror movie posters. John then made over 100 DVD cases where guests could select their favorite scary movie and write a message to the happy couple.
For the table assignments, each table was given an iconic horror movie location (i.e. Elm Street, Crystal Lake, Derry)
There were also fall themed flowers and pumpkins that said “Mr. and Mrs. 2024” on each of the tables.
Favorite Details All of the Halloween/horror movie aspects tying together beautifully. All of our family and friends celebrating together and really having a blast on the dance floor
Most Unexpected Event On Your Wedding Day John is always trying to go above and beyond to make his family, friends, and especially Andrea smile/laugh. Just a week or so before the wedding, John decided he was going to dress up as Deadpool and perform the dance to *NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye.” Though it wasn’t perfect, everyone seemed to love it!
Piece of Advice Discuss all the details together. Be open to compromise but be honest with each other as you plan every aspect of your special day.
