Sarah & David

A fairy garden party at London Town and Gardens in Edgewater.

Occupations Sarah works in insurance; David is a government contractor

Wedding date July 12, 2025

Number of Guests 150

How You Met We met at the University of South Carolina. David, originally from Atlanta, had become friends with a group of guys from Maryland (Sarah’s home state) that Sarah knew in high school. We were just friends until senior year when we decided to give it a chance. We are so thankful that all of these same friends were able to be there with us as we walked down the aisle eight years later.

The Engagement Admittedly, I blew it. I got caught trying to sneak Sarah’s bags into my car for transport to where we would stay after the engagement. We both love the Chesapeake Bay and were surrounded by friends across multiple boats as we made our way out to Thomas Point Lighthouse. I had tried to add a comedic effect to the engagement, pretending to lose the ring in the water as my friend tossed me the ‘fake’ ring box. He threw a line drive at my chest that I caught with ease, further ruining my plans for a perfect and funny engagement. Even with all the mistakes it was still memorable for everybody when I got down on one knee. We took the boats over to one of our favorite dock bars where even more friends and family waited to surprise Sarah and help us celebrate.

Wedding Design Inspiration Sarah wanted a fairy garden party. I believe her exact quote was “if it wasn’t something a frog and rabbit would have at their wedding, she would not want it.”

What Was Unique and Special About Your Wedding Day We were surrounded by family. Sarah’s older sister, Rachel, was the officiant and her twin sister, Hayley, was the maid of honor. David’s brother, Zach, was his best man. It was so special to be standing next to the people we’ve known our entire lives while we said our vows.

Favorite Details David: I loved the view of the bay from behind our wedding platform. The venue truly provided so many unique views from gardens, to docks, to well-lit tents, indoor dance floors, and a beautiful vintage car (unfortunately not part of the venue). This resulted in thousands of beautiful shots from our amazing photographer Jenny. You would never know they were all from the same venue and day. Sarah: David loves movies so I wanted to find a way to incorporate our favorites without being too obvious. I walked down the aisle to “Once Upon a Time . . . Storybook Love” from The Princess Bride. We entered the reception to the soundtrack version of “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” from Mamma Mia. The last song of the night was “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield, a perfect way to close the night like so many romcoms before.

Piece of Advice We wanted to enjoy cocktail hour saying our hellos and catching up with out-of-town guests. From there we made a point to stay with each other the rest of the evening.  It is so easy to get pulled away, but we wanted to experience everything we planned together. Speaking of planning, something will inevitably go wrong. Just accept that and enjoy the day with each other.
