How You Met Tinder

The Engagement A double proposal! Nic re-created our first date and proposed to Alexis by the Charles River in Boston (after having sneakily gotten our jointly designed custom engagement rings a month before Alexis thought they were ready). Then, about a month later, Alexis proposed by decorating their entire apartment with a history of Nic and Alexis’ love in photos, candles, and a giant balloon sign that said, “Will You Marry Me?”
Wedding Design Inspiration Baroque art, the evolution of color throughout the day (so that the longer you were at the event, the more vibrant everything became), really leaning into the art-museum aesthetic of the Baltimore Museum of Art.

What Was Unique and Special About Your Wedding Day We had live music throughout the entire event that moved chronologically through musical time period throughout the day. The ceremony and cocktail hour, played by spring quartet, started with baroque music (1600-1750), progressing to late romantic era classical music (late 1800s) and then switching the string quartet pop music covers. Then for the reception, we had a wedding band that played everything from Earth Wind and Fire to ABBA to Chappell Roan.
The appetizers were completely customized to our favorite foods. Nic LOVES wonton soup from a specific place in Maryland that is their favorite. We had our caterers re-create the wonton soup and they even ordered mini wantons to create our guest-favorite mini wanton soup shooters.

Favorite Details We had a life size carousel horse that was engineered to be sittable as a photo prop against our grass backdrop that had a neon sign saying, “Riding Off Into the Sunset.”
Piece of Advice Make sure you stick by your spouse’s side for the entire wedding. It goes by so quickly and you want to experience as much of it as possible together. It can be really hard to get a bite in, so I’d definitely recommend having your caterer bring you a platter of appetizers after the ceremony. It’s both a great way to have some private time with your new spouse, get to enjoy the delicious fruits of your planning, and take a beat before spending the rest of the night surrounded by friends and family.
