Something New: Taking Time Off

I can’t believe how quickly time is flying by – we’re less than 2.5 months away from our wedding day! While all the big stuff is done, we still have a million little details to figure out (that might be a slight exaggeration, but it definitely feels like that). Since we’re also doing a ton of work on our new house, life lately feels like the most unbalanced balancing act.

Luckily, we have our bachelor/ette weekends coming up soon! This will be a much-needed break from what has been a relentless barrage of responsibilities. I’ll be enjoying a weekend at the beach, while Joh heads off to Denver.

I cannot express how excited I am to be able to get away with some of my favorite humans for the weekend. Also, packing for vacation is legitimately one of my favorite activities, so you better believe my suitcase is already packed and waiting for me.

Last week, when I realized how soon our trips were, I had a moment of panic – there’s too much to do, how can I possibly take time off now? Then I realized that this is exactly what these trips are for. It’s a chance to get away with friends, to clear our minds, and regain a little of the perspective that is so easily lost in times of stress and decision fatigue.

I know I am not alone in saying that I find it so hard to give myself breaks, so this is one wedding tradition that I am more than happy to adhere to.
