Mason Dixon Minded: It’s the Final Countdown

I honestly have no idea where the time has gone but these past few months literally flew by. And while some brides might get super stressed since there are a LOT of little (but massively important) things to cross off the list, I have really tried to savor these moments. The past month has brought my bachelorette party and family/friends and work bridal showers. I can honestly say I am one lucky lady to have so many awesome, fabulous, rock-stars in my life who really are genuinely excited for my new chapter. I don’t think I could ever say thank you enough to them.

I have always heard that the last month is the craziest one with wedding talk every day and appointments galore. Boy is that one correct! My mom and I have been going non-stop with all those details that had to wait until the last minute to finish. One of these is the always-dreaded seating chart. I admit that I wasn’t exactly excited to mark this one done. However, thanks to my wildly creative mom, it ended up being not only easy but a good time. She invited us and Mike’s parents over for lunch this past Sunday. After eating and working on another project, we got to work on the tables and chairs. She had already done a lot of the grunt work before we got there by cutting out 14 circles for our tables and writing every guest’s name on a sticky arrow.

She also divided everyone up on to categories and color-coded them: our family, Mike’s family, bridal party, friends and young family members. Being a very visual person, this made it so much easier to see who was sitting where. Mike and I had already done a preliminary draft of our friends’ seating which also helped. The whole process only took about 15 minutes and was actually a lot of fun. Figuring out where to seat guests definitely is something to ask for help on unless you know your families that well. It was also a great excuse to get the parents together one last time before the big day!
